Just don't expect rubber masks, double bass pedals and bloodshot eyes, alright?

There's always been a long-standing debate over who first formed the power of rock and roll. Heck, it even goes back to the early 1900s, where rhythm and blues musicians were finding ground within experimental limits. That's where some rather interesting songs were practised and performed, and, without even knowing it – originating the birth of an almighty genre that has travelled leaps and bounds since.

But, what did R&R sound like way back then? Well, I'll show you. Just don't expect wild crowds, swinging fists and sweaty teens, alright?

As I said, there's always been a strong debate over what the first official rock and roll song was. But, saying that – this is a strong contender, and is believed to be the track that formed a complete shift in musical experimentation. And, from here, iconic musicians stepped up to the plate and soon developed a sound that most of us know today.

But – as for 1938, Big Joe Turner and his game-changer track "Roll 'Em Pete" was what truly set the stage for many great performances to come.
